Sorry it's been a while. It's been hectically busy over at HQ, but we have quietly been proceeding behind the scenes with getting BY3 off-the-ground.

29 November at the Mont Choisy estate.

Tickets will cost Rs300 at the gate, Rs250 if you book in advance.

Negotiations are underway, and we expect that from ext week, tickets can be purchased from any Mauritius Telecom (Orange) shop. You will get a receipt, but the actual souvenir ticket will only be despatched to you 2 weeks before the event. Either by post or for collection from our offices.

We've kept the ticket price down to Rs250 so that we can attract thousands of people. Tell everyone what it is about, and let's fill it up and make history.

Please note, we are setting a new standard with Backyard, so no-one will get a slot just by asking for it. IF you have a recording, no matter how rough, send it to us - DO NOT EMAIL mp3 files to us, they will just get trashed.

Send us a link to where we can download your songs. From this Sunday, we will be streaming online in the evening with Live radio from Backyard Radio - details to follow - and we will be plugging all the bands that are interested to play. The listeners will decide which 4 great Mauritian rock bands will also play at BY3.

Each band that plays at BY3 will receive VIP access to the backstage area, plus their band will receive a fee for their slot.

Impact Productions will be providing the technical rider for the event. Two giant screens and a live video feed for the entire event will be done.

The BY3 Festival will last for 12 hours, with 8 bands and some DJ type stuff in between. There will be drinks and other activities throughout the day - this time it's a festival - not just a rock show. IT starts at noon.

Most importantly, what you can do is help us to market this great event and make history in Mauritius. Tell your friends, encourage everyone at schools, universities and in the streets that Mauritian ROCK music is alive.

We build the Backyard, to make it huge.

IF Backyard 3 is as successful as we know it will be, then those of you who made it happen will have a VERY special surprise waiting for them at BY5 backstage NEXT October....

Have you considered including HumaNoID in the line up?

@ BYSP : As we'll meet soon, I will give you the demos I received from the band UnMind. I also have demo recordings of Paranoid, HumaNoId and the album of Reborn Orleans.

where's humanoid in the bands that are confirmed to play?

guys, I can't reply on behalf of BYSP, as it's him and ONLY him who set the rules, but I think that he choose to have a webradio selection process for half of the bands to give everyone a chance.

Of course HumaNoId will play if the majority vote for them. Don't consider it a crime of lèse-majesté if they are not in the four bands pre-selected I'm 99% sure they will be on BY3, cause I'm sure people listening to the radio will vote for them. If HumaNoId was also pre-selected, why not Paranoid, why not Reborn Orleans ? So people will have to vote for only one place left, which would generate much less interest

No-one is eliminated from the process. Skeptikal was selected on pre-confirmed grounds. There is no favouritism here.

We had over 30 bands 'demanding' to play. We just can't please everyone.

Some bands are going to be better than others, but at the end of the day, let the people who pay to see the bands decide who they want on the bill.

Simple fact is: We can't have EVERYONE playing at BY3 - otherwise there would be nothing special about it.

People have their arguments: Paranoid, for example, should be first in line for a confirmed slot because the police shut them down at BY2. However, all of the bands that have contacted me are happy with the selection process.

Some of the bands will be invited to come and play live on the Backyard Radio show - which would mean they would get a good recording as well.

Sadly, we just can't please everyone....

hi steven .... just a question.... are you thinking of other media & ways of promotion for BK3, coz if you want to make it big... think that facebook will not be enough.

Weps i agree with feizal, posters, billboards and showbiz plasma screens are very good tools for promotion....i can ask a friend from showbiz to play something on their screens...

Guys, I know Steven, if you think he's only counting on Facebook and rock.mu to promote BY3, you're under-under-underestimating him. I'm sure he thought about all what you are suggesting, AND much more to promote.

Still, any help is welcome of course

I'll write about Backyard 3...but...it's in two months time, so i guess at work they will say it's too early to write about it....
