The Monolith Deathcult is a band from Holland playing death metal.. plain death? hell no! Well, at first yes (but I don't know these years) but then they shifted from brutal death metal to atmospheric death with electronic elements, especially dnb and trance sounds. Anyway, I haven't got the opportunity of listening to such a brilliant piece of death metal for years and this album is meant to take the lead for the coming months or maybe years who knows, unless of course Nocturnus' new babe come along.. Seriously, there ain't any competitor for the title of the genre, they're overtaken by too far and I doubt any band will be able to produce something as huge as Trivmvirate III.

First off, the massive use of synthetisers and samples est flagrante and the intro of Deus Ex Machina (tiens, sa me rapelle quelqu'un sa:p) is a pure bliss.. Electronic for a few seconds before the death metal growls comes in. These sounds keep coming and their integration into the music and even the Russian, gothic and military choirschoir chants is truely astonishing, like mixing the sugar to your coffee to add some taste to it. To picture what it sounds like, take some Nile for the death metal, Behemoth vocals, some gothic band atmosphere and blend them.. thats it.. Just to make sure you get the point, The Monolith Deathcult is the equivalent in death metal of what Aborym (epoque "Kali Yuga Bizarre") or Dodheimsgard is to the black metal scene.

Yea, I know I talk a lot about the electronics, but the death metal part is as brilliant as anything else.. be it double bass or blastbeats, the slayeresque guitars, the growled vocals that points to Nergal of Behemoth, the bass lines, well, the musicianship is topnotch and will surely keep you entertained till no end, trust me on this one. Even the clear production adds to the feel of the album.

Cote lyrics, j'ai pas eu le temps de vraiment les lire jusqu'a l'heure but I'll update you if they're not too politically incorrect as it seems they are. No NS stuffs as such but it seems they're the arrogant type, got it? anyway we're here for the music.

So this is it, I love my 2008 albums and this monster is no exception et sur ce, je le range a cote de mon album de Trinacria.. -10/10- brilliant and most probably the best thing that happened to death metal for years. hmmm on pourrait, au lieu d'etre limite a 10 meilleurs albums aller un peu plus loin Deus? je crains que 10 ne suffira pas..
