I planned on reviewing the new Wolves In The Throne Room album but you know how it is, at times we're just taken by the throat by one tremendous wave of passion for a band. I did some years back when Amesoeurs released their more than famous 'Ruines Humaines' and it started all over again..

Basically Amesoeurs is a french black metal act consisting of the famous Neige from notorious BM bands Forgotten Woods, Alcest and Peste Noir. However, the thing here is not only do it feature Neige, but this mix of shoegaze/post-metal stuffs and BM make it an everlasting record.. For those of you who long for originality, this may be your chance.

So like I said, I was a fan of the previous EP and had to take my mal en patience in waiting 3 years for a full album but it was worth the wait. A brilliant piece (masterpiece!!) of music that is not depressive and provides a breath of fresh air for a genre qui commencait a tournait en rond. The production here is clear, musicianship is good but no solos a la vous savez qui and this synthesis to punk/pop rock is just amazing.. In these 3 years, Audrey's voice just got bigger and better and she now sings in more than one song + the likeability factor, she's somehow very cute and adds to the recognition of the band ;) . Her songs evidences the punk/pop classification (check the 'Les Ruches Malades') while Neige's shrieking are just as good as ever, tearing with rage berce par des moments delicieusement melodique..

The songs are not that long and since they're in french, make it understandable even when its screaming.. Overall that was bloody marvelous and I enjoyed every single limb of this. Amesoeurs made me raise my BM flag up again with pride (if you'll call that BM).. -10/10- Ranks high up my list of best albums for the year, brilliant..

My favourite album this year, I think. :)

You guys noticed the bands mimicing their style? I think there's a thin line between a band being an influence on another and that other band ripping off the said "influence". A fair few even went as far as copying the font used for their logo. :o

Edit:

I don't remember the names but Thranenkind do have a similar logo.

Check it out there.

Their sound however, while showing obvious influences of Amesoeurs, is not identical, which is a good thing I think. :)
