Hello All,
I moved to Mauritus in August from the UK. I like all sorts of music including Metallica, GNR, Soundgarden, AIC, Sepultura and a load of funky music and 70's soundtracks (Herbie Hancock and Lalo Schifirin). I also love latin / cuban and flamenco guitar. I play a guitar and enjoy making up songs.
In the UK I worked as a Sound Engineer for the BBC. I specialised in music mixing and have mixed hundreds of bands for radio & tv the biggest of whom are The Beastie Boys & Manic Street Preachers.
What are the studio's like here? I have thought about opening one but its very difficult for studios to stay open these days as so many people can record themselves at home and get good results. Do you have practise studio's? Is guitar music popular in Mauritius?
Also do you get many decent concerts here? And what are the best venues for live music (international and local bands)...so many questions!
Looking forward to hearing your stories and also the music that you are making.
